My Contributions

This project was developed from a client brief as apart of a Serious Games unit.

We worked with Dr Catherine Grant representing Music Endangerment.

Project Management

I led a team of two programmers and three artists to develop a gamified interactive museum made to complete our client's requests. We worked with Dr Catherine Grant from Music Endangerment to cultivate a digital interactive experience that could educate people about endangered musics.

Our team created nine unique interactions that each featured a different endangered music genre and its culture. Players could learn about each genre, including why they are endangered, to better understand the interactions.

I coordinated reviews with our client and ran regular group meetings to deliver a successful project. I also represented our team by delivering weekly presentations for the serious game unit.

Programming

I was very fortunate to have worked alongside two incredible programmers on this project.

We collaboratively designed the immersive room experiences for several endangered music genres: Women's Water Music, Arrulo, Awelye, Etnic, Dinka ox-songs, Mali Baining night dances, and Nanguan.

To ensure we were respectful of each cultures' music and traditions, I researched each genre and culture then met digitally with our client, Dr Catherine Grant, to proceed with development.

Once our research was approved, I begun greyboxing each interaction, then worked through iterations of internal and external playtesting, and gradually detailed each virtual museum experience.

Client Feedback

"

I'm amazed at the quality of the students' work, especially given they produced it in just one trimester. I've learnt a lot from our collaboration, and am excited about the educational and activist possibilities of serious games.
